BACKGROUND
The Jane Finch Collection is an extensive open-access database containing easily-discoverable academic research on the community. The collections consists of journal articles, theses, dissertations, and other academic research and/or literature on and about the Jane Finch Community. We want the collections to be freely available to community members, organizations, grassroots groups, and researchers conducting research with and in partnership with the community. The goal of collecting and compiling published academic materials on Jane and Finch is to enable researchers and residents to access and make use of research from the collections to affect research goals and methods, discover and gain access to research about the community, and exercise their agency in bridging research and policy outcomes. We have made this information available and accessible in the form of a bibliography as we continue to work towards a community-owned, open-access database that will enable comprehensive access to downloadable scholarships.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
Please see the bibliography below:
ZENODO
Downloadable PDF versions of the scholarship listed in the bibliography are available in a collection hosted on the Zenodo platform. We are housing this information on the Zenodo open-access database so that the community can have the downloadable full text of this information available and accessible. Currently, we have uploaded 39 articles available out of the 87 listed in our bibliography. This is due to us needing to seek permission from the copyright holders of the scholarship in order to be able to upload the articles on Zenodo. Thus, the downloadable PDFs will grow over time. To access the current database, please see below:
JANE FINCH COMMUNITY RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP
The Jane Finch Collection bibliography is a working document. We are constantly upgrading and including research that is not on our list, and/or new and incoming research, articles, theses, dissertations, and the like. If you would like to suggest a scholarly resource on and/or about the Jane Finch Community, please use the form below:
COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP
This work is led by community members supported by the SSHRC grant, and expert librarians and archivists at York University Libraries, to help community members map out the process for gathering the academic literature and compiling the bibliography of research conducted about the Jane Finch community. After compiling the bibliography using a tool called Zotero, we then began the lengthy copyright clearance work to enable us to share the PDFs with the community. Disseminating the PDFs was possible with the use of an open access database called Zenodo. This work took hours, weeks, and two years, as well as community feedback to get going. We ask that you use this work respectfully and ethically for the benefit and wellbeing of the Jane Finch community. We ask that you give recognition to the Jane Finch Community Research Partnership as a source when you use the information. We also ask that you use it in line with the principles outlined in our document for conducting research in Jane Finch. Thank you for supporting, and sharing our work.
